Art Devour is a nonprofit organization that inspires restorative self-reflection in order to educate youth, ages 5-18, in sustainable practices mostly dependent on recycled materials through the visual and creative arts.
This is a unique way to educate students on the importance of expressing their emotions and conflicts, verbally or non-verbally, in a safe and healthy environment. Our organization prides itself on integrating concepts of sustainability, becoming your own resource, and green practices, so we up-cycle old artwork and recycle donated materials, discarded wood, fabric, scraps of paper, and metals for a number of projects including indoor and outdoor art installations, sculptures and an array of other projects.
Our programs are designed to challenge students in under-served communities where resources are often limited or not accessible to students, these courses are dedicated to creating programming that engages students to create art utilizing their surroundings. We provide outreach to educational institutions with in-school and after-school programming, workshops, lectures and exhibitions.
Art Devour is poised to build partnerships by placing an emphasis on making the most lasting use of the resources already available within urban environments. A major part of our goal is to show community members that they don’t have to start from scratch because there are dedicated people and services ready to build alongside. For our part, we are prepared to innovate, inspire, organize, and teach. What we lack, just as many of these communities and their members, is the resources to make this miracle possible. We would be ideally partnered with an institution which is already entrenched within urban communities but would benefit from the specialized focus we are able to provide.
